Two major works of the classical repertoire, influential in their respective genres -concert and symphony- are brought together in a concert that will also include an internationally acclaimed soloist, violinist Sergey Khachatryan, accompanied by conductor Eun Sun Kim. Beethoven’s Concerto in D Major has become a romantic paradigm through the privileged location of an individual at the epicentre of the action, facing the elements with an incorruptible personality and a polarising virtuosity.
In the powerful figure of Brahms, a self-confessed admirer of Beethoven and under whose great shadow he remained for years, the second generation of romantic composers would find an example of commitment in the search for perfection not without forcefulness. The last symphony, which begins with the recitative of an insistent melody -seemingly always returning, similar and different to the waves of a metal sea- was to include emotionally complex and thorough episodes until the final passacaglia: an invitation to take part in the “perpetual movement” sought after by the Baroque view of the world that, in an untimely language, reaches the paroxysm of expressivity.
