Carmen is Georges Bizet's final opera and masterpiece, based on the novel by Prosper Mérimée. This time it comes to the Teatro Real with a production by Damiano Michieletto, which sheds new light on the lust, violence, and passion of the popular opera. The production will feature great voices such as Aigul Akhmethsina, returning to the Teatro Real after her acclaimed Elisabetta di Maria Stuarda, and artists such as Michael Fabiano, Charles Castronovo, and J'Nai Bridges. Leading the Teatro Real's Resident Orchestra will be Eun Sun Kim, current music director of the San Francisco Opera and the first woman to conduct an opera at the Teatro Real after winning first prize in the Jesús López-Cobos International Opera Conducting Competition in 2008.
